DIGITAL LOVE
DO TEENAGERS HAVE LESS OR MORE EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS NOW THAT WE LIVE IN SUCH A DIGITAL AGE OF CELL PHONES AND COMPUTERS WITH TEXTING, INSTANT MESSENGER, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, ETC? EXPLAIN, AND GIVE EXAMPLES TO SUPPORT YOUR OPINION? (DUE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2010)
The way I feel about textin is that it is great for getting a message right to you,but on the other hand its a lot harder for a person to comminicate with other when they are face to face.For an example me Im not really all that in to that textin thing but i do it, but its hard for me sometimes to tslk to new people face to face because you have to find what you have in common with that person and really me I really dont have the time or the effort to sit there and get to know some on.So I feel that digital talkin can ruin a person self essteam and makes it a lil harder for a person to meet people.
ReplyDeleteSince cell phones and texting and online communications have taken the stress away from face to face with people. Like before texting and aim you had to face to face talk to girls by yourself. Technology has become a crutch to many people simple things like telling a girl you like you like her or talking to someone right next to you. Electronics are also dangerous in the wrong hands like a girl sending naked pictures to a boy she likes. Once she sends those pictures any and everybody can see them. Twitter And Aim is where many teens can talk to each other a lot of fights and conflicts have risen Because of them. Because of these many of peoples lives have been ruined. Teens have less effective communication now because everything they need to talk to each other is right there in their hands in that one phone or computer. With all those devices a teen really doesn't need to leave his house. Personally i think twitter is useless I really don't understand it i made one and found no joy in it. It’s just another thing that everybody going to think is so poppin at first then no one going to use it it’s going to turn into a how my space is now my space is dead no one use it like everyone use too what’s next. Many people have computers at their disposal but choose to do negative things with it instead of positive things like home work and learning or studying. We can’t let technology take over our lives.

But in away people rely on these things because they have there guard up. In some cases people do have more effective communication skills because using aim, facebook and stuff can help prepare you for when your ready to have that conversation
ReplyDeletei feel that teenagers have less communication skills.The reason why ui feel this way is because now if u see how many kids are on the coumputers not lookin for jobs or tryin to do somthing with there life all they are doin is being on twitterand facebook instead of dontin their home work..they rather talk about people and not worry aout there self. texin and bein on facebook is not goin to get them a job, ahouse or a good education people may say being on these things will help you hgave a conversation in the real world but i feel that it wont because being on these site will not help you do your resume or learn how to talk to people on an iterview

Doing this will will only make you get less communication skills because wen you apply for the job of your dreams you won't know what to do or how to respond to what's going on in life.they also have less communication skills because everything they need to say to each other is there in their hands.Using the technology we have can ruin a person because instead of using computers and stuff they have to talk to other people and it would be harder for them and they become shy in away and keep to themselves
I FEEL THAT TENNAGERS IS SO STUCK ON TEXTING AIM TWITTER N ETC.THEY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO BE MORE CONSTRUCTIVE N FOCUS ON MORE IMPORTANT THINGZ LIKE A JOB. THEY PUT ALL THEY EFFORT AND TIME N ALL THE WRONG THINGS. THEY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TALK TO SOMEONE FACE TO FACE. I UNSERSTAND PEOPLE IS SHY N ETC BUT THEY HAVE TO GET OUT OF THAT , THEY HAVE 2 TEACH THEMSELVES HOW TO TALK TO PEOPLE IN PERSON INSTEAD OF USING AN ELECTRONIC CAUSE AT THE END OF THE DAY U HAVE TO USE YOUR MOUTH
ReplyDeleteI am neutral on this topic because it is my belief that teenagers have both less and more effective communication skills with the introduction of new technology of the digital age.Teenagers have less effective communication skills because they are dependent on there cell phones,psp,internet,facebook,twitter,tv,radio,aim ect it becomes a placebo,Without there text messages or aim or facebook,the old traditional way of communication is lost because teens want a easier way of communication.For the timid teens facebook,twitter,aim ect is sort of a way of escapism or hide{wear a mask} for them to be someone else.Otherwise they are too shy to get the ability to talk to someone face to face.For some it is devastating to get up the courage to talk to someone in person.Nobody really uses phones anymore it's all about instant text messages,In our society today it's all about technology the new iphone or apple computer or new ipod nano.Psychological effects communication nonverbally is that when you meet with the person you talked to online face to face it now becomes awkward seeing them then you are at lost for words because you don't know what to say to them.In todays world we want things fast and instant to keep up with our fast paced lifestyle.It then turns into reliance on technology,the thought of not being able to live without our cell phones, ipods.They say “less is more” that too much of something can kill you.
ReplyDeleteCommunication by chat/text can also be a helpful thing because a shy person chating/texting friends on her cell phone or on fb or aim can overcome her shyness and learn how to be more open and outgoing.Teens who have zero communication skills can learn how to communicate with others.I personally talking to someone on the phone has helped my communication skills because it helps us to know how to articulate..The way we speak to friends and the way we speak professionally at school and work are two different things all together cause we may speak in slang to our friends,we may think that that’s proper English because we use it in our daily lives.Just like this blog it is digital because it is not your old fashioned way pen to paper homework.The dangers of digital communication is that we can all hide behind our computers,iphones,psp screens and become something we are not.We are all just living a hedonistic unhealthy lifestyles.All about our comfort and pleasure
I think teenagers have more communication skills on phones, computers and etc. I feel that way because before these technologies came about teenagers only communicated in school. And even then they didn’t communicate as much because they were not loud to talk in class. Leaving only the time they had for lunch to talk. When the cell phone came into the picture, communication skills grew. They were aloud to call and text each other out of school. Some teens were still left out because they didn’t have a cell phone, they used the internet. Some used MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Face book, Twitter, Aim, ect. All of these sites opened up a whole new world of communication and teenagers use it 24/7. If there weren’t cell phones out I don’t know what I would have done with myself. Cell phones these days mostly have everything on them. So people with twitters n etc be in class with they phones tweeting n etc. But communication with phones/internet can start with beef. It starts a lot of confusion with people. This is also a faster way for people teenagers stay on the phone and text all night and day. But all of the high class technologies today really gains teenagers attention. So people that are shy can speak to other people and feel comfortable and can explain how the. The technologies also brought families together. It made old friends find each other and reunite
ReplyDeleteI honestly feel that teenage communication skills SUCK these days. Like really looking at it most teenagers don’t even know how to hold a reasonable conversation now. The digital world has provided an easier way of talking and it’s become so permanent. For example, now instead of actually laughing teenagers would actually say lol. How about you laugh, imp sure it'll have the same affect. Also its is the cause of so many wrong teenage relationship. Our generation does not know how to express feelings well at all that’s the bottom line. The age of so much digital work has helped us but also set us back.
ReplyDeleteAnother example would be how foreign young men are to approaching a female. The same things are being said that why females always keep walking. The technology world is taking away from people exercising their fluent speaking ability. I am a firm believer that words from your mouth is stronger than words seen on a screen in front of you. If you are not good with writing words then what else do you have to rely on but your mouth? It’s the basic things that people take into consideration. Like if you go to a job interview, are you text the person that is interviewing you all the answers or are you going to actually have to speak up n know how hold a conversation? This day in age had become all about how to make a short cut from real life. It Sucks
Teenagers have more effective communication skills now that we live in a digital age because it's so easy to find friends and family threw internet access. For example facebook is a place where you can find all types of people/friends/ and family that you may have lost contact with. I can say this from experience because I did not have any numbers or any contact with my middle school friends, here I make a facebook and I end up regaining contact with my long lost friends. Now teens are starting to feel more open speaking to other people more comfortable online than in person and as they connect threw technology they gain the confidence to speaking to the person. But then again teens need to stop being so dependent on these sites and technology and take sometime to do something constructive. They would normally spend majority of their time, school time, and work time texting, Instant messaging , etc. Some teens also tend to start conflict threw technology. And threw these websites that becomes very dangerous . That is less effective it brings nothing but chaos among one another and to much hatred. The website such as twitter bring lots of conflict to a set of people because they are arguing over something stupid or for a small incident. And teens *tweet*about unnecessary moments, and things that is happening to them at the moment.

Based on the multiple varieties of communication it enhances teenagers’ ability to talk using more than one way. The digital world provides new and improved options for teenagers to express their selves without verbal communication. You don’t always have to be face to face to talk; sometimes people feel more comfortable talking on social networks. Since the digital world got better people focus more on communicating through text and networks because in my opinion it’s a fashion statement. You don’t have to communicate face to face to have skills; in this modern day technology is all you need. I believe communication skills increased because technology. More people are able to get their point across. Now instead of talking to all of your friends at one time you are now able to communicate with all of them at the same time. I feel it’s better and more exciting because it gets boring talking to someone the same way all the time. Aim, facebook, twitter, bbm etc… has provided a way for people to be entertained while talking to one another. People are able to talk to one another longer and messages are sent faster. With the Wi-Fi connection people are now able to go anywhere and connect to the internet, phones are improving. The people who were once shy can now overcome it because it helps them break out of it. ReplyDeleteWell this is a true saying . Many people use Technology too meet new people or too tell someone your true feelings or just too keep in touch . Too me technology helped a lot and teens use them more often too keep in touch . All like Twitter and Facebook and the other new websites people are mostly on . These Websites and phones are used too connect with a long time friend that you haven't seen/ talk too in a while or too meet new friends and see how they can fit in your life . For instant some people use texting at a far distant too sometimes, too tell them " Will you Marry Me ? " or " Will you Go Out with me ?" They use it sometimes because they are shy in real life and too me this sometimes help them to get out their feelings. Too me , when I joined twitter I learned a lot of people from different states that I have never went too before or I met new people that are in New York and saw them in real life . It helped me connect with a new environment and meet new people lifestyles . The most populated website people use are Facebook , Twitter , And Myspace . As These New things coming out it helps people to take the stress off their mind and update their status . As usual , on twitter people Retweet your saying and you and the person end up talking or on Facebook you can just “like” the person status or comment on it and there , you met a new friend . It helps a peaceful environment but sometimes you have too know who your talking too . Even though I know I’m not going to see people in Canada or California they add me and we still talk and become friends over the internet . Some people do it through phones cause phones gave you IM and have special features like BBM for Blackberry or Iphone BBM . All these Technology help people to learn new stuff about one another and their true feelings , how they act and also meet new people .
